J.S. Bach wrote the Christmas Oratorio for the 1734 holy days. Its six parts describe the birth of Jesus, its announcement to the shepherds, their warm response, the naming and circumcision of Jesus but not whether this caused additional joy, the voyage of the three kings, and general adoration of the baby.
